This course introduces the students to the basic aspects of biotechnology in medicine. Thus, this course can be put together as applications of biotechnology in medicine. This course consists of 5 different units and each unit deals with specific technical aspect or medical application of biotechnology. The course enables the students to understand the basic technical aspects of vaccine design, producing antibodies by introducing the students to specific examples of recombinant therapeutic products. It also introduces the students to diagnostic aspects of DNA and enzymes and reproductive issues in both the sexes and few of technical aspects of available assisted reproductive therapies and the basics of gene therapy.

• To describe the design of vaccines and problems associated with the
development of vaccines against some of the diseases.
• To explain the concept behind drug designing and lead modifications
• To describe the synthesis of nanoparticles and the applications of
nanobiotechnology
